Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition that can cause intrusive thoughts, unwanted fears, and repetitive behaviors that feel difficult to control. OCD can affect relationships, school, work, daily routines, and overall quality of life.
At Adelpha Psychiatric Group, our physicians provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for children, adolescents, and adults experiencing OCD symptoms. We take time to understand each patient’s experiences, symptom patterns, treatment history, and goals before making recommendations.
Treatment may include psychotherapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), medication management, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), or a combination of approaches depending on individual needs.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
OCD is a mental health condition characterized by obsessions and compulsions.
Obsessions are intrusive, unwanted thoughts, images, or urges that create anxiety, distress, or discomfort.
Compulsions are repetitive behaviors or mental rituals that a person feels driven to perform in an attempt to reduce anxiety or prevent something bad from happening.
While many people occasionally experience unwanted thoughts, OCD involves patterns that are persistent, distressing, and disruptive to daily life.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Not everyone experiences the same symptom patterns, and OCD can present in many different ways.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Many people experience occasional worries, unwanted thoughts, or routines.
OCD may be present when intrusive thoughts become difficult to dismiss, create significant distress, and lead to repetitive behaviors or mental rituals that interfere with daily life.
A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation can help determine whether symptoms are consistent with OCD or another condition such as anxiety, trauma-related concerns, depression, or other mental health disorders.

treatments
Treatment is individualized based on symptom severity, treatment history, and personal goals.
Treatment recommendations may include:
Medication may be recommended when clinically appropriate. Certain medications can help reduce the intensity of OCD symptoms and improve daily functioning.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
For some patients, TMS may be an appropriate treatment option. TMS is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment that may be considered when OCD symptoms have not improved sufficiently with other treatments or medication interventions have not been tolerated.

Many patients come to Adelpha without knowing exactly what condition they may be experiencing.
Symptoms often overlap. Anxiety can look like ADHD. Depression can occur alongside trauma. Mood changes may have many possible causes.
The purpose of the consultation process is not simply to assign a label. It is to understand the full picture and help determine what type of support may be most appropriate.
Whether you have an existing diagnosis, are seeking a second opinion, or are simply looking for answers, our team can help guide the next step.
Insurance support is part of making care accessible
The first step is a consultation process.
Thoughtful care starts with a thorough evaluation.
At Adelpha, getting started does not mean rushing into treatment without context. The first few visits start with an initial consultation period. This process includes at least two visits for adults and three visits for children and adolescents within the first month. This gives your physician or marriage and family therapist time to understand your history, current concerns, goals, previous treatment, and what kind of care may be helpful.
When appropriate, your physician or marriage and family therapist may ask to coordinate with your prior or current mental health providers, your primary care physician, or family members involved in your care. At the end of the consultation phase, we will share our impressions and recommendations. We will work with you to determine whether ongoing care with Adelpha is clinically appropriate and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.
