Telehealth allows patients to meet with their physician or therapist through a secure video platform rather than attending an appointment in person.
Virtual appointments can often be accessed from a smartphone, tablet, or computer, allowing patients to connect with their provider from home or another private location within California.
Telehealth can be a valuable option for some patients, but it is not appropriate for every situation. The decision to use telehealth is based on clinical judgment and individual circumstances.
In many cases, yes.
Adelpha’s approach begins with a thorough evaluation and consultation process. During this process, your physician or therapist will assess your clinical needs and determine whether telehealth may be appropriate for ongoing care.
Some patients may be eligible for telehealth after completing an in-person assessment and establishing care with their provider. Other patients may require ongoing in-person visits based on their treatment needs, diagnosis, medications, safety considerations, or other clinical factors.
Your psychiatrist or therapist will discuss these recommendations with you as part of your treatment planning process.
When clinically appropriate, telehealth may be available for services such as:
Availability depends on the specific service being provided, the patient’s location, regulatory requirements, and the provider’s clinical assessment.
For eligible patients, telehealth can offer greater flexibility while maintaining continuity of care.
Benefits may include:
For some patients, telehealth can make ongoing treatment easier to maintain while still receiving consistent support from their provider.
There are situations where in-person care may be recommended or required.
Factors that may influence this decision include:
Adelpha’s goal is not to fit every patient into one model of care. Our goal is to determine the setting that best supports effective treatment and positive outcomes.

Many treatment plans include a combination of in-person and telehealth appointments over time. Recommendations may change based on your progress, clinical needs, treatment goals, or changes in circumstances.
Your physician or therapist will discuss available options and help determine the most appropriate approach as your care evolves.
The best way to determine whether telehealth may be appropriate is through the consultation process.
During your evaluation, your physician or therapist will review your needs, discuss available treatment options, and help determine whether telehealth can safely and effectively support your care.

Insurance support is part of making care accessible
We know cost and insurance questions can be stressful. Our team will help make the financial side of care as clear as possible and help you understand what information is needed before treatment begins.
The first step is a consultation process.
Thoughtful care starts with a thorough evaluation.
At Adelpha, getting started does not mean rushing into treatment without context. The first few visits start with an initial consultation period. This process includes at least two visits for adults and three visits for children and adolescents within the first month. This gives your physician or marriage and family therapist time to understand your history, current concerns, goals, previous treatment, and what kind of care may be helpful.
When appropriate, your physician or marriage and family therapist may ask to coordinate with your prior or current mental health providers, your primary care physician, or family members involved in your care. At the end of the consultation phase, we will share our impressions and recommendations. We will work with you to determine whether ongoing care with Adelpha is clinically appropriate and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.
