When a child or teenager is struggling emotionally, behaviorally, socially, or academically, it can affect the entire family. Parents often find themselves searching for answers while trying to determine what kind of support may be needed.
At Adelpha Psychiatric Group, our child and adolescent psychiatrists provide comprehensive psychiatric care for children, adolescents, teenagers, and transitional-age youth. We take time to understand each young person’s developmental history, emotional well-being, family dynamics, school experiences, and treatment goals before making recommendations.
Care may include psychotherapy, medication management, family involvement, coordination with schools or healthcare providers, and ongoing support based on each patient’s individual needs.
Our goal is to help families better understand what is happening and identify the most appropriate path forward.

At Adelpha, child and adolescent psychiatry includes care for:
Transitional-age youth often include young adults navigating the unique challenges that can arise between adolescence and adulthood, particularly when managing ongoing mental health concerns.
Our physicians have specialized training in understanding how mental health conditions present differently throughout development and how treatment recommendations should be tailored accordingly.
Parents may consider a psychiatric evaluation when a child is experiencing ongoing emotional, behavioral, social, or academic difficulties that are affecting daily life.
Some children struggle with symptoms that appear suddenly. Others experience challenges that gradually become more noticeable over time.
Our team works with children and adolescents experiencing concerns such as:
Changes in mood, behavior, school performance, relationships, sleep patterns, or daily functioning can all be reasons to seek additional support.
Treatment is individualized and based on the needs of each child and family.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy helps children and adolescents better understand emotions, develop coping skills, improve communication, and navigate challenges in a supportive environment. Treatment approaches vary based on age, developmental stage, and presenting concerns.
Medication Management
Medication may be recommended when clinically appropriate. If medication becomes part of treatment, our physicians carefully review benefits, risks, alternatives, and ongoing monitoring with both patients and parents or guardians.
Family Support and Collaboration
Mental health concerns often affect more than one person. When appropriate, we involve parents and guardians as part of the treatment process while also respecting age-appropriate privacy and confidentiality.
We may also collaborate with pediatricians, therapists, schools, and other professionals involved in a child’s care when permission is provided.
The first phase of treatment focuses on understanding the full picture before making recommendations.
Your physician will spend time learning about your child’s history, current concerns, development, school experiences, family relationships, strengths, previous treatment, and goals for care.
When appropriate, we may gather information from parents, guardians, therapists, pediatricians, schools, or other healthcare providers involved in your child’s care.
This consultation process helps us develop a thoughtful, evidence-based treatment plan tailored to your child’s needs.
There is a nationwide shortage of child and adolescent psychiatrists, and demand for these services continues to exceed availability in many communities.
Adelpha is fortunate to have physicians with specialized fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry, allowing us to provide dedicated psychiatric care for children, teens, and transitional-age youth.
Because provider availability can change, we encourage families to contact our office to discuss current scheduling options.

Insurance support is part of making care accessible
We know cost and insurance questions can be stressful. Our team will help make the financial side of care as clear as possible and help you understand what information is needed before treatment begins.
The first step is a consultation process.
Thoughtful care starts with a thorough evaluation.
At Adelpha, getting started does not mean rushing into treatment without context. The first few visits start with an initial consultation period. This process includes at least two visits for adults and three visits for children and adolescents within the first month. This gives your physician or marriage and family therapist time to understand your history, current concerns, goals, previous treatment, and what kind of care may be helpful.
When appropriate, your physician or marriage and family therapist may ask to coordinate with your prior or current mental health providers, your primary care physician, or family members involved in your care. At the end of the consultation phase, we will share our impressions and recommendations. We will work with you to determine whether ongoing care with Adelpha is clinically appropriate and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.

You do not need to know the right diagnosis or service before contacting us.
